MD and the town of Pincher Creek agreed in 2017 to provide $5,000 each to repair the roof, but the project was delayed and the municipalities kept the funds in reserves.

The roof is being replaced and the company has raised approximately $100,000 for the project, leaving a shortfall that the two municipalities had agreed in principle to fund. The shortfall was $25,000, with each municipality providing $12,500 – in addition to their already agreed contribution of $5,000 each – for the project.

“There’s a little shortfall between the grant money and what they need to make it happen, and we’re splitting the shortfall 50-50 between us and the city,” explained Troy MacCulloch, manager. administration of the MD, during the month of March. 8 board meeting. “And we have it (regional community initiative reserve) specifically for things like that when there is mutual benefit for both municipalities. We can take the money from there.

Pincher Creek council had passed a motion on February 28 approving the city’s contribution to the roof replacement.
